-THE FIRST DAY OF WINTER-

On this first day of Winter, the truest love said to me… “Let there be snow!” – and so my Pre-Season snow-anxiety has already began.
After trawling through pages and pages of Instagram/Twitter and now my personal Facebook.
It’s almost impossible to avoid snow and the general pre-season vibes that are happening right now.
Over in NZ our cousins have had enough snow for their entire base – still standing at 70cms and this was two weeks before the season even commences….

Here we were in little old Australia freaking out that there would be no snow, even though we had a good dusting two weeks ago.

Actually, we had enough snow that my friends and I (see crew video below) got up to Mount Baw Baw for a night and built some kickers with a bluebird day spring vibe.
We had enough that we could send it down a mountain as well as build some sick little innovative natural features.

But after the initial early swoosh of great white, only two days ago us snow lovers were starting to bite at our nails and wonder if for once in our lives we would actually have some white for opening weekend which is THIS weekend – Queens Birthday.

I’ve gotta pay photo credit to a good mate of mine and the best DJ in the WORLD DJ EDDY HOTHAM for showing us what the delicious Hotham is starting to look like!
- JUST IN CASE YOUR TIMELINES ARE NOT ALREADY COVERED IN WHITE POWDER!

Which brings me to my current feeling – right now as I write this,  I have butterflies in my stomach, my feet won’t sit still and my heat rate is physically elevated as I start to think about dropping into the crispy (or pow’y) white goodness!

This year we have had the can that El Nino is going to be in force – for most of us we don’t really understand what this means but I am told in our case this time it should be doing us a favour.. As it’s been the COLDEST MAY since 2000.
- If you're like me and not been fortunate enough to be around the mountains that long. This was the year of the Iceage!! When it snowed and puked and puked!

So here’s to praying to the snow gods each night and via the law of attraction putting out stomachs and hearts to rest.
Praying that we get that EPIC season we have all been waiting for.

Last year was definitely one for the memory books, with a lot of snow and 90% blue bird days, no one could complain!

This year I am finally letting go, ditching my Public Service job of 7 years, my mortgage, 5 horses and a whole adult life behind from the Suburbs of Melbourne to FINALLY persue the one thing that makes me feel free, the one thing that actually settles my heart at the same time as making it race.

Because from the moment I first strapped into a snowboard in the Winter of 2013 I knew that indeed I am a SNOWBOARDER.
And I am willing to sacrifice it ALL for the one true love of my life.

SNOW.
(Sorry guys, you don't even fit in at second.)

So come with me on a journey from Corporate lady into the transition as Snow Bum.
From able(ish) body into barely able to walk.
All for the love.

This season I will be writing for BoardWorld amongst some other rad brands so be sure to keep an eye out:
